Sprinter Kim Kuk-young has become the first South Korean to make it into the semifinals in the 100 meters-dash at the Athletic World Championships.
Kim finished his race in 10.24 seconds at the Championships in London on Friday, ranking third in his heat and 24th overall.
Although the 26-year-old's achievement is a first for a Korean, Kim was not satisfied with his performance, hoping for a better one in the semis.
Earlier in June, Kim set a national 100-meter record with 10.07 seconds, breaking his own record twice in three days at the Korea Open International Athletics Competition in Jeongseon.■
