The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has announced plans to launch a GPS locator service designed to help locate elderly citizens who suffer from dementia.
Priority for the service will be given to those who have gone missing at least twice before.
The service will locate the person along with a route, via its internet homepage or the smart phone application, and will also send an emergency signal to the guardian when the person leaves a safe zone or enters a dangerous area.
The locator service is offered for free; however, those residents with higher standard income will be required to pay a 9,900 won monthly connection fee.■
