The N Seoul Tower is set to illuminate a helpful warning to locals when ultra-fine dust levels affect air quality in the capital city.
From this month, the landmark tower on Namsan will turn on its red lights when the harmful dust hits levels above 120 micrograms per cubic meter, for more than two hours.
Since 2011, the tower has been lit with blue lights to signal low, safe levels of fine dust, but with the recent increase in ultra-fine conentrations, the city has moved to switch it to a public warning system.■
