Seoul's defense ministry has been making a push to adjust the functions of its cyber security and anti-espionage units.
A military source says the ministry has been preparing reform measures for the Cyber Command and the Defense Security Command, aimed at preventing the ministry from getting involved in politics and undue monitoring of individual soldiers.
The Cyber Command caused controversy in 2012 when its personnel reportedly meddled in elections, while the DSC has been criticized for excessive surveillance on soldiers.■
