Stocks on Wall Street recovered a chunk of last week's sharp losses with investors finding some comfort in U.S. President Trump's rosy talk of a China trade deal.
At closing bell on Monday, the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 both gained 1.1 percent while the tech-rich Nasdaq jumped 1.3 percent.
Over in Europe, Frankfurt's DAX rose 0.4 percent, shares in Paris gained 0.5 percent while London was closed for a public holiday.■
