With the 99th anniversary of the March 1 Movement coming up tomorrow, museums in Seoul are gearing up to host events and exhibits to celebrate the occasion.
A ceremony will be held at the Seodaemun Prison History Museum to commemorate the demonstration that took place on March 1, 1919, where Koreans took to the streets of central Seoul to openly protest against Japan's colonial rule.
The event will be held outdoors starting at 10 a.m. and will include reading out the country's Declaration of Independence as well as re-enacting the demonstration.
The museum, built in remembrance of independence fighters who were tortured and executed during the colonial era, will be open for free.
Visitors will be able to see historical pictures and observe jail cells and an execution house used back then.

Across town, the Seoul Museum of Art will open a photography and documentary exhibit tomorrow titled 'Displaced Souls.'
The show will shed light on Korean people forced into hard labor by the Japanese empire during the Second World War.
Around 140 pictures and two documentaries will tell the story of the excavation of remains of Korean laborers found in Hokkaido, Japan.
The show at the SeMA bunker in Yeouido will run until April 15.
