One British man is hoping to become the first person to swim the Atlantic.
Ben Hooper, a 38-year-old ex-policeman and father, was set to embark on the 2,000-mile challenge from a beach Sunday, in Senegal, and cross towards the Brazilian coast, wearing a special shark invisibility wetsuit.
He will not be completely alone -- he'll have support from a small boat for eating and sleeping when he isn't swimming during daylight hours.
His record attempt will also raise funds for charity.■
