The use of landline phones and desktop computers has dropped while cellphones and tablet computers are taking over the spots.
According to a survey by the Korea Information Society Development Institute on 4,000 households in 2018, those that owned a landline phone accounted for a record low of 52 percent.
As for desktop computers, 59.7 percent of the households owned the device, falling lower than the 60 percent mark for the first time.
On the other hand, the use of cellphones rose to a record high of 95.8 percent, while the number of laptop users increased to 26.6 percent and tablet PCs to 8.4 percent.■
