A recent poll shows more than half of the nation opposes granting special pardons to convicted businessmen.
This according to a public opinion poll carried out by Gallup Korea on 1,000 adults, which found that 54 percent of the country is against exonerating business tycoons.
The poll comes as President Park plans to grant special pardons next month to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's independence from Japan's colonial rule.
Thirty-five percent approved the planned pardons, while 11 percent withheld their opinions.
The poll had a sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percent. ■
