Korea Aerospace Industries has signed a deal with Indonesia, clinching its partnership in a local fighter jet development program.
Under the preliminary contract, Indonesia will shoulder 20 percent, or 1.7 trillion won, of the program's 8.7 trillion-won price tag to develop the KF-X.
Indonesia will be entitled to purchase 50 new planes and also take part in the designing of the aircraft and production of components for the program.
This latest deal will help expedite the indigenous fighter jet project, which has been criticized by the National Assembly, as well as the public.■■
